Oh my goodness. Do babies come any cuter than this? Got to take photos of this gorgeous cherub and his lovely mama the other week in Macedon. We had such fun together. The little man had just learned to make a roaring lion noise and had us in stitches over it. He was also well into pulling, grabbing and removing my photography props. Not easy to take photos of a little active and curious crawler…Check out the rest of the photos on the main page. Enjoy!
Although this trip lies a little while back, it’s worth sharing these lovely photos. It was still winter when we went on our little explore. But the sun was warm and beautiful, and people were starting to dip their toes into puddles and the sea alike.
There is something beautiful about going right up close to something. I sometimes feel this curiosity gets lost when we become adults. But both as a photographer and a mother, I am always trying to look at things from different angles. What would I see if I were an ant? A giant? What becomes of these when I go right up close?
The same goes for patterns. Flowers, leaves, or sand. This one almost makes my eyes go crazy – it seems to be moving and wriggling.
There is so much to explore around the Macedon Ranges – winter or not, you can make it a wonderful day out. The market is absolutely lovely (it’s on every first Sunday of the month). It’s full of fresh produce, artwork, hand crafted items and of course food and good coffee. If you’re going with kids there is plenty do for them too: face painting, a petting zoo with lots of animals, sometimes a jumping castle. It gets really busy depending on the weather. With the sun out and the skies blue, it certainly picked up towards lunchtime.
If you’ve had enough of the market, there are plenty of cafes to go to. Or the park. Or the botanical gardens. The botanical gardens stretch out just behind the park and the big playground in Gisborne and invite for a run around or a leisurely walk. When it’s windy it’s ideal to fly a kite. And what kind of walk would it be if little boys didn’t tackle big sticks?
I recently took photos of this little man when he was still known as ‘bump’. What a pleasure to return a couple of months later to take photos and see how he is getting on wrapping everyone around his tiny fingers. And let me tell you, he is doing incredible well! Check in soon for more photos in the portfolio section. Enjoy.
And of course big sister wanted to join in too on the fun. Cheeky and gorgeous all at once:
I can’t claim that I take my camera with me everywhere. It is a big ol’ heavy thing, my camera. Don’t get me wrong, I love it dearly. But sometimes it’s also nice to just travel light. How lucky that on this day I did take my heavy camera. iPhone photo snaps would just not have done the trick when I tagged along these two to the playground.
What a fantastic couple of hours! Lots of fun with a whole team of people. The beautiful model Aliz Palfy, La Mexicana’s Lucy Perez d’ Klaus and makep artist Naomi Chavalley, videographer Jonathan Barroso and lovely assistants Minerva Velaquez and Alicia Vargas! And all this at the beautiful Hotel Villa Cortes.
Check out the online store and La Mexicana’s facebook page. Also check out Naomi’s facebook page for her lovely work! Jewellery by Q’cejas Frida. Happy Beach has all those lovely cute bags and shoes, go check ’em out!
Now, take a look behind the scenes, and head over to the portfolio site for the finished photos! Enjoy!
I already took photos of Sandra and her family a little while ago. They had so much fun that they brought the rest of the family along. The cousins had fun playing in the trees, and posing on an armchair, while the adults chatted away and generally enjoyed their little get together. Looking good guys!
These were taking on a morning walk out on the beach. The air was still quite crisp but with the promise of a hot day. Perfect to go for a stroll and take the camera out for a muck about.
How adorable is this elderly couple? Isn’t that what love is about, no matter how young or old you are? Carefully, step by step walking into the water for a morning swim, holding hands? Seeing these two made my day that morning on the beach.
And how cute are these two young ones? Father and son watching the sea, chatting, observing, having a special moment. I often think that the connection between young children and their parents is magical. The little ones still have that sense of wonder and amazement about the world, and the parent gets to rediscover the world through their child’s eyes.
